The refusal of COVID-19 vaccination and its associated factors: a systematic review

Background: To date, more than 10% of the global population is unvaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and reasons why this not vaccinated are well identified. Objectives: We investigated prevalence COVID-19 vaccine refusal to assess factors associated with refusal. Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted during August November 2022 (PROSPERO: CRD42022384562). searched articles investigating vaccination its potential in PubMed, Scopus, Web Sciences. The quality assessed using Newcastle–Ottawa scale, data were collected a pilot form. cumulative vaccinate identified single-arm meta-analysis. refusals determined Mantel-Haenszel method. Results: total 24 included analysis. Our findings showed that 12%, highest general population, lowest healthcare worker subgroup. Furthermore, individuals high socioeconomic status, history previous vaccination, medical background had lower rate refusal. Subsequently, following an increased risk refusal: being female, educational attainment undergraduate degree, living rural area. Conclusion: study This may serve as initial reference achieve coverage by influencing refusal.
